Student project teams

Engineering students work in teams to design and build electric, solar and other vehicles, concrete canoes, planes and bridges. They test their creativity and ingenuity in friendly competition with other universities in events that draw regional and national crowds.

To confirm membership and verify project participation for a specific candidate, we recommend contacting the faculty advisor or student leader of the project team listed on a candidate’s resume.

You can sponsor an Ohio State team with donations of cash, materials or expertise. For more information on these projects, please contact the advisors.

Aerial Robotics Team
The team constructs an unmanned autonomous vehicle that will compete in the International Aerial Robotics Competition. The vehicle will compete based on its ability to sense the semi-structured environment of the competition arena.

Aero Design Team
Students design and construct a small radio-controlled aircraft capable of lifting many times its weight. With a fixed wing size, the design goal is to lift off from a given runway length carrying the maximum weight and land safely. The performance score, coupled with the predicted results, determine the final champion.
