Co-op & intern students
Resume templates
Once you've taken all of the steps to join the program, you'll be ready to prepare for your job search. Create a resume using the ECIP templates below. These templates are preformatted to be compatible with employer applicant tracking systems and provides pertinent information in an easy-to-find format for employers. Note: You should tailor the headings and information included to fit your individual circumstances.
Important Formatting Resume Tips
- Make sure your name appears on the first line of text, no larger than size 14 font. Use a standard address format and if you list more than one phone number, list each on its own line.
- Use standard fonts (Arial and Times New Roman are safe bets); font size should be between 10 and 12. Don't use condensed type.
- Avoid italics, bold text, underlining (including hyperlinks) and graphics of any kind, including vertical and horizontal lines, borders, and boxes.
- Left justify your text. Avoid abbreviations. Margins should be .75" to 1" on top and sides; .50" is acceptable for the bottom margin.
- Print your resume on standard 8.5" by 11" white paper. Use black ink.
- Students should limit their resumes to one single-sided page.
These templates are read-only documents. To use for your own resume, right click on the appropriate template and select:
- Save link as... (Firefox, Netscape)
- Save target as... (Internet Explorer)
and save it to disk.
Including both current and permanent addresses ensures that employers can easily contact you, even during breaks. If you plan to use only one address, do not list it twice (see one address examples, noted below).
