Steps for new GS (Graduating Student) registrants
- Learn about your job search account. Review Your Senior Year Job Search [new window] online or attend a workshop session. Highly recommended: attend an interview workshop -- check workshop listings for new sessions.
- Complete the GS registration form [PDF]. This form is also available at Engineering Career Services (ECS), 199 Hitchcock Hall, 2050 Neil Avenue.
- Submit the completed form and a check for $25.00 to Engineering Career Services (make check payable to The Ohio State University). If you mail this information, keep the second page of the form for your records. Remember to stop by ECS to pick up the Career Services Handbook and Job Choices Magazine.
- Within 2 business days of receiving your form and payment, Engineering Career Services will notify you that your job search account is ready (you will have partial access). You can then login to your job search account, complete your online candidate Profile, and upload your resume. Read Using Your Job Search Account [PDF] for additional help.
- For best results, use our scanner-friendly resume format to create a rough draft, then come in for a resume consultation. This is critical to your success! Call 614-292-6651 to schedule an appointment; please note that these appointment slots fill quickly during Autumn quarter, and there can be a 2-3 week wait to see an advisor.
- Complete and submit the online Quarterly Activation Form for full access. A link to this form is available in the lower right corner of each page in your job search account.
Steps for ECIP (Engineering Co-op & Internship Program) registrants transferring to GS (Graduating Student) services
NOTE: As a GS registrant, you are able to activate your job search account for internship or career employment jobs.
- Complete a GS registration form [PDF]. This form is also available at Engineering Career Services (ECS), 199 Hitchcock Hall, 2050 Neil Avenue.
- Submit the completed form to ECS -- no need to pay again. If you mail this information, keep the second page of the form for your records. Remember to stop by ECS and pick up the Career Services Handbook and Job Choices Magazine.
- Review Your Senior Year Job Search [new window] online or attend a workshop session. Highly recommended: attend an interview workshop if you haven't been to one of these sessions within the past year -- check workshop listings for new sessions.
- Update your resume. Use our scanner-friendly resume format to create a rough draft, then come in for a resume consultation. This is critical to your success! Call 614-292-6651 to schedule an appointment; please note that these appointment slots fill quickly during Autumn quarter, and there can be a 2-3 week wait to see an advisor.
- Login to your job search account, update your online candidate Profile, and upload your new resume. Be sure to designate it as the Default (NOTE: the default resume is the version included in resume referrals and the electronic searchable resume book). Read Using Your Job Search Account [PDF] for additional help.
- Update your Search Agent(s). In Jobs, revise any Search Agent(s) to reflect the correct applicant type (career employment vs co-op or intern, for example).
- Complete and submit the online Quarterly Activation Form for full access. A link to this form is available in the lower right corner of each page in your job search account.
To retain your active job seeking status, you will need to reactivate your account every quarter, starting the first Wednesday following graduation. To reactivate:
- Update your online profile, if necessary
- Revise and re-upload your resume, if necessary. Make sure to select your new resume as the Default resume.
- Complete and submit the Quarterly Activation Form (located in the lower right corner of each page in your job search account).
If you don’t have a job at graduation, you can use GS for 12 months after graduation.
